BACKGROUND

Mardie Rhodes is an independent contractor and consultant in community relations and public relations. She is a sole proprietor and has operated her own consulting practice since 1999.

Mardie is committed to helping her clients develop and implement successful communication strategies. Much of her career has focused in health care — from running a marketing communication department in a major urban medical center, to helping health care non-profits translate complex health care information on everything from HIPAA to Medicaid enrollment. She understands the communication challenges of working with large health care organizations and small start-ups. She can speak health care lingo with the best of them.

Mardie has served on the boards of several community-based organizations, including Country Doctor Community Clinic; YouthCare, an agency serving homeless youth; and Bridges to Understanding, an international non-profit founded by internationally-renowned photographer Phil Borges. She is also an active member of Rotary International and has served in a variety of board positions and as president for Seattle International Rotary from 2001–2002.

Mardie is an accredited member of the Public Relations Society of America (PRSA) and recipient of numerous awards from both PRSA and the International Association of Business Communicators (IABC), including the prestigious Communicator of the Year Award for contributions to the community and to the communications field.
